Our story starts with John Owen who in the 1920’s first started his practice in Albert Street, Castlefields. He moved to our current location at Coton Hill in 1927 as a family. John Owen was the first registered Dentist in Shrewsbury following amendments to the Dentists Act in 1921. He had branch Practices in Craven Arms, Clun and Bishop’s Castle, which he would visit on market days.
He was joined by his Daughters, Margaret, in 1935, and Dilys, in 1946. The Practice continued to thrive and grow following his retirement. His grandson, John Sparrow, joined the Miss Owens’ in 1974. When Margaret retired in 1977, Peter Bona, who had known John Sparrow since 1955, also joined the Practice.
Dilys Owen retired in 1981, when shortly after, Paul Soltysiak joined the team, firstly as an associate and then a partner.
The three Partners then created and built Pontesbury Dental Practice, which they ran for 10 years.
