Oral surgery is the area of medicine concerned with correcting problems or damage to the mouth, teeth and jaw. It is often referred to as “Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery” which combines oral surgery with surgery on the structures of the face, sinuses and neck.
Oral surgery is commonly performed to remove wisdom teeth, prepare the mouth for dentures, repair jaw problems and perform root canals. Oral surgeons may also perform more advanced procedures as required after trauma or severe disease damages the structures of the mouth.
We work closely with Mr Sunil Bhatia, a specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at the Dental Spa in Shrewsbury.
Sunil, who is also a Consultant for the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, has completed training around the UK as well as in Nigeria, Canada and India. He is well known in the town, and a keen cricketer and badminton player.
Sunil has a special interest in treating head and neck cancer and salivary gland disease and can also carry out difficult tooth extraction, Implants, wisdom teeth extraction, treatment of facial pain and TMJ problems.
