Oral Surgery

Oral surgery is the area of medicine concerned with correcting problems or damage to the mouth, teeth and jaw. It is often referred to as “Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery” which combines oral surgery with surgery on the structures of the face, sinuses and neck.

Oral surgery is commonly performed to remove wisdom teeth, prepare the mouth for dentures, repair jaw problems and perform root canals. Oral surgeons may also perform more advanced procedures as required after trauma or severe disease damages the structures of the mouth.

We work closely with Mr Srikrishna Vempaty, a specialist in Oral surgery at the Dental Spa in Shrewsbury. Srikrishna is a doctor with special interest in Oral Surgery and has over 23 years of experience in this field. He received his basic training in India, where he completed his dental degree and postgraduate qualification in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Since 2006, he has worked in oral surgery departments across the UK, gaining experience in a wide range of treatments. His main interests are in complex dentoalveolar surgery, including the safe and effective removal of impacted wisdom teeth, roots, and canines, as well as surgical procedures to support orthodontic care. He is also trained in implant dentistry and bring a gentle, reassuring approach to every procedure I perform.
